Our worry of the week is from a bride who is concerned that it will rain on her wedding day.
She does not mention if it is an outdoor or indoor wedding – even brides who are having a wedding indoors sometimes worry over rain since they believe everything will still be a disaster for the guests and themselves.
First- I am going to address a primary concern of summer and fall weddings that are held outdoors- there are so many beautiful outdoor venues – here in Virginia- that many couples chose an outdoor wedding location. You should always ask the venue what is the back-up plan in case of rain. There should be an option for a tent- a must – I believe if you are having an outdoor wedding at a venue that does not have an inside reception area. And not just because of rain. If it is a hot day no one wants to be outside with no shade to get out of the hot sun. Tents are great options but they are also expensive if you have a large wedding so be sure to consider this and budget for a tent. Some venues may offer the tent in the price of booking the venue. You will not need side walls on the tent if it is a summer or early fall wedding- unless you plan to pay for having the tent air conditioned.- as it would be much too hot with side walls. Renting fans are options as well to keep the air moving but not in an enclosed tent.
Of course if the venue you select has an inside area for your ceremony and reception in case of rain- there is no need for a tent and no need to worry. Guests will have a wonderful time regardless of rain – if you have entertainment, great food and drinks- everyone enjoys a wedding rain or shine!
In the end- no one can control the weather- there is no need to stress over weather as your guests came to see you get married and share in this wonderful new start of your lives together.
