Our series of Luxury honeymoons in Asia, part three, of five, takes us to Bangkok this week.
Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit
By Bart Conley
Just because the guys of Hangover Part II chose to celebrate Stu’s last days of bachelorhood in Bangkok doesn’t mean the Thai capital is only for the wild and crazy.
Romantics need only look to one of the City of Angels’ newest hotels for evidence — the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit.
The two-year-old property’s sultry appeal starts in the lobby, whose centerpiece is a gleaming, marble-and-chrome interpretation of Paris’ famed Grand Arch, and extends all the way up to the rooftop.
That’s where guests will find L’Appart, an elegant Parisian-styled hangout that’s equal parts restaurant, bar and lounge. The venue was designed to feel like an ultra-chic penthouse apartment. And it does. It’s not only got an array of comfy nooks and crannies, it’s got a spacious terrace that overlooks bustling Sukhumvit Road, gateway to some of the best shopping in Bangkok.
