Virginia wedding

Real Wedding Wednesday: Meghan & Trey

In 2015, while Meghan was in pharmacy school and Trey was finishing up his Pharmacy Administration Residency at VCU Medical Center, the pair met and started emailing each other. They remained friends after Trey left Richmond for the Alleghany Regional Hospital and Meghan returned to Charlottesville to finish up pharmacy school.

At some point in these communications, they realized they really ought to give it a try and started dating.

For their first official date, which happened to take place on Cinco de Mayo 2017, they avoided the overcrowded Mexican joints and decided on Jack Browns, a burger spot on the downtown mall in Charlottesville instead.

The couple had such fun, though, that after dinner, they grabbed drinks at the Whiskey Jar and talked for hours – the instant connection was made.

The Scoop

Bride: Meghan, 29, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Salem VA Medical Center

Groom: Trey, 34, Director of Pharmacy at Lewis Gale Medical Center

Wedding Date: October 5, 2019

Number of guests: 115 guests

After dating for one year, the couple got engaged and started looking for the perfect venue for their special day. Meghan worked at a winery in Charlottesville, and they loved the idea of a winery wedding, so choosing such a location made perfect sense for an October wedding in Virginia.

As a couple, they first visited the Septenary Winery at Seven Oaks Farm, near Charlottesville in February 2018. The stunning estate with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a unique farm history stood out to the pair; they knew they’d found the right location.

For the wedding, Meghan asked a childhood friend from Richmond to serve as her wedding coordinator and Meghan and her mother created many of the wedding decorations using the Cricut they owned to create acrylic signage and marble place settings with script lettering.

Meghan’s gown was a beautiful white dress from Tiffany’s Bridal in Richmond. The scalloped lace keyhole back is accented with delicate pearl buttons, one of the highlights of the gown and a big part of why Meghan fell in love with it.

Her unique shoes looked a bit like Cinderella’s glass slippers but were comfortable flats that allowed her to enjoy every bit of the wedding without worry of pain. She also wore the stunning diamond tennis bracelet that Trey gave her as a wedding gift.

Meghan chose a classic and elegant motif for the day, with a simple color palette to play off the natural beauty of the 109-acre estate. “The greenery along with the white and blush roses were beautiful accents to the mountain views and white estate house.”

The ceremony took place on the south lawn in front of the beautiful, historical manor house beneath the historical seven oaks on the property.

Meghan’s advice for brides planning their own special day: “Once everything is planned and it is the big day, don’t get caught up on details and expectations. Just enjoy the day with your future husband and all of your friends and family. It will be the only time you will have that special group of people all together to celebrate your marriage.”

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Meghan & Trey. Congratulations to you both!
