Real Wedding Wednesday: Kelly and Drew

When life give you lemons, you make lemonade. But what happens when life gives you rain on your wedding day?! Ekkk! That is exactly what happened to Kelly and Drew this past October when Hurricane Joaquin rolled into town on their wedding day! Luckily, the couple handled it swimmingly and their day turned out to be one that truly stood out to me! Who am I? Your real VA wedding blogger, Tilley!

Lets dive in! (so many water references, lol)

Kelly chose a strapless mermaid gown that laced up the back to say “I do” to her high school sweetheart.

I love the bedazzled belt she added to bring the whole look together!

Hurricane Joaquin may have brought their ceremony at the Airlie Center in doors, but it turned out to be classic and beautiful. This is a true testament to making the best of your day. We all hope for gorgeous wedding day weather, but all that really matters is the bride and groom’s love for each other.

Just as the sun began to peep out of the clouds, Kelly and Drew promised forever to each other in front of their closest family and friends.

How cute is Drew?! Already taking care of his wife by shielding her from the rain 🙂

Their smiles are as sweet as can be and I actually really apprecaite the way the rain made those gorgeous steps look!

Perfection!

The groom and his friends looked to definitely be making the best of the rain as they goofed off for the photographer.

Looking very dapper, I might add, in bowties.

Kelly and her maids found refuge back in doors for their photos, but that quickly changed as the sun began set and they headed back outside for a few more shots….

Which I am so glad they did! If it is going to hurricane on your wedding day, you might as well commemorate it! Brides, matching umbrellas are always great to have on hand, just in case…

After the photos, the party began inside the Airlie’s beautiful pavilion.

The simple string lights set the most breathtaking stage.

And the newly weds danced the night away…
