Real Wedding Wednesday: Donnie and Jessica

Firemen come to our rescue when we are most in need. They are brave in the face of fear and make quick decisions for the best possible outcome. Today’s real VA wedding features a fireman who embodies these principals named Donnie and his blushing bride Jessica. Who am I? Tilley! Your wedding obsessed blogger who also loves firemen (my dad and brother are both firemen as well) so this wedding really caught my eye.

Donnie and Jessica started dating in high school. After many years together, they tied the knot last year on Jessica’s family’s property.

With the ceremony set to begin at 6:30pm, the couple chose to do a first look to make sure to have plenty of time to spend with one another. How cute is Jessica sneaking up behind him?

Such a sweet moment when they first see each other…

I love that Donnie and all his groomsmen were in their dress uniforms.

Jessica looked flawless in her spaghetti strapped gown and of course her maids wore fire engine red. They killed it!

With perfect weather, she walked down the aisle…

…and they said “I do!”

If I know anything about firemen, it is that they know how to have a good time! The reception decor mirrored the firemen theme and with 250 friends and family they partied the night away!

They had cake and cupcakes and….

…a decadent looking chocolate groomsmen cake complete with a fire department emblem!

Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs.! Your love sets us on FIRE! (Hehe I couldn’t help myself)

From the Bride:

What was your favorite detail from the day? “Well, I was really pleased with how everything turned out, especially since we had to plan and make/do everything ourselves. I think my favorite though, would have to be how the sweetheart table and backdrop turned out. I also loved our firetruck exit!”

What advice would you give to a bride to be? “I would tell a bride-to-be not to stress the small stuff and not to worry the day of. You will forget things, I actually forgot a family heirloom that was supposed to be attached to my bouquet and when it came time to do the bouquet toss we had no idea where the bouquet was, but it all turned out okay and none of our guests even noticed or knew what was going on. So, just breathe, relax and enjoy your special day together.”
