Real Wedding Wednesday: Collyn and Jack

Happy Wedding Wednesday fellow wedding lovers! I am so excited to share today’s featured wedding with you all and would you look at that gorgeous ring?!

This is Collyn and she actually met her groom to be in the first grade! They didn’t become a couple till their senior year but “Jack and I knew we were meant to be after just a few months of dating,” Collyn recalled. 4 years later, he proposed on Christmas Eve!

They were married in September at the Peaks of Otter Lodge in Bedford, VA. But before the big walk down the aisle, they had the sweetest first look!

“It was a breathtaking moment that had us both shaking with excitement and nerves!” Collyn said.

The dense mountain fog created such a magical backdrop!

You can really feel their joy from their smiles! I love it!

The ceremony took place inside the beautiful lodge.

They said their vows and shared their first kiss as a married couple!

Next up was the reception! They utilized flowers and a bit of wood for their table decor.

And how creative is this adorable keepsake for the new couple to remember who was in attendance?!

From grade school to the rest of their lives…

…Collyn and Jack, your love is an inspiration! Congratulations!

From the Bride:

What was your favorite detail of the day? “There are too many to count—from the quiet moment I had to myself at breakfast in the lodge that morning, to the first look that took my breath away, to finally getting to eat some chai tea wedding cake! I think my favorite was actually getting to sit down after our entrance into the reception and just talk to each other for a few minutes. Weddings are so full of other people that you can forget to just spend some quality time together on your wedding day!”

What advice would you give to a bride to be? “Take time to really explore what YOU want your wedding to be like. You can make it perfect with a little creativity! I couldn’t find exactly the look I wanted from items in a store, so I crafted our decorations from the things I already had and loved. We had lots of beautiful faux greenery and blooms from my mom’s days arranging flowers and some gorgeous silver teapots and trays from my mother in law’s house. I calligraphed the signs for the reception because I wanted them to look a specific way. I knew I wanted that rustic-romantic look from my wedding and little details just pulled the whole look together, like the vintage mason jar centerpieces and the birch arch covered in greenery at the front of the room. Another tip is don’t forget to ask for help from your friends! I borrowed the mason jars from a dear friend who has an amazing collection, and I was able to use these amazing wood rings for the centerpieces from a coworker who had just cut a tree down.”
