Real Virginia Weddings: Rosemary & Lucas

Coming to us this week from a Facebook match, the Virginia weddings tale takes us to a hot July in 2020 when Rosemary and Lucas met in Bethesda, Maryland.

Virginia Bride features weddings weekly here on the blog. Being featured in the blog does not necessarily mean they are featured in the print magazine.

“We met on the social media app that we use every day – Facebook! Lucas slid into Rosemary’s messages after spotting her on the “People You Should Know” and friend requested as well. We both talked online for a week until meeting for the first date in Bethesda, MD.”

It was on July 17, 2020, on a hot 97 degrees, Friday afternoon, that we decided to meet at Trattoria Sorrento in Bethesda, MD. We were willing to take the risk for love. This is when we both realized that we are in the same work industry, we have similar personalities, and both love the same sports teams; and most likely how Facebook put our algorithms to cross paths. We did not want the date to end, so we walked to Tommy Joe’s after dinner and that’s when Rosemary told Lucas that he needed to sweep her off her feet and he literally did just that by picking her up and sharing a magical first kiss. The date ended with both dancing and being in sync to Nelly’s Hot in Here at Tommy Joe’s. The rest is history!”

The Scoop

Bride: Rosemary,33, Entertainment Production Coordinator for Washington Commanders

Groom: Lucas, 34, Associate at Production Management One

Wedding date: September 10, 2022

Number of guests: 100

Our On Cloud Campbell wedding was epic and everything we envisioned. Our entire weekend took place at Skyland in Luray, VA. We had a beautiful intimate sunset rehearsal dinner at Pollack Dining Terrace, an outdoor religious wedding ceremony at Peak View Stage, and a cozy mountain chic wedding reception at Skyland’s Historic Conference Hall; all embedded with our career passion for music, events, and entertainment. We had the Virgin Mary statue at our ceremony which symbolized our faith. We used our own lighting and a/v equipment for our wedding weekend which made it extra special because we arranged it exactly how we wanted. Our goal was to blend and celebrate both our cultures.”

“My romantic solid white wedding dress was an intricate floral lace appliques, embellished with nearly 4,000 beads and sequins, adorns the illusion plunge bodice and trims keyhole back. The soft, sweeping skirt is finished with a fashion-forward double slit that lends movement to every step. Exclusively Galina Signature from David’s Bridal. My shoes were Cinderella Glass Slippers – Strike Twelve Light Blue from Aldo. My jewelry and veil were accessories from Love Couture Bridal Boutique.   in Potomac, MD.  I truly felt like a queen on our special day.”

“Chianti was the beautiful color chosen for the bridesmaids.  Each bridesmaid was able to pick her own style of dress from David’s Bridal. September brings in the fall, and all the warm and cozy feelings. Chianti, light green, beige, light pink were the perfect touches to an outdoor almost mid-September wedding.”

We chose the beautiful Shenandoah National Park – Skyland Lodge Resort, for our wedding because it was a unique way to blend our love, traditions, and cultures. Bride is first-generation, parents are from El Salvador; groom’s family is native to the Shenandoah Valley in Front Royal, VA with Scottish, Irish and German background. The location was a perfect getaway for family and friends from the DC area to travel and enjoy the beauty of nature and celebrate love. Luray Caverns was a top choice for sightseeing, and we had guests as far as Canada attend!”

“We had DJ Tommy Carlucci, as seen on WWE NXT, as our special guest and DJ for wedding reception. He was a hit with his tunes and included something for everyone.”

“Our career passions were evident in our wedding; bride is a Coordinator, Entertainment Production for an NFL team Washington Commanders; groom is a Production Associate at a Washington DC, Agency. Carper’s Wedding, our florist, added that extra special touch with beautiful bouquets, ceremony stage florals and reception flower chandeliers. The entire wedding represented genuinely both Bride & Groom. It reminded us why we met and fell in love. Teamwork makes the dream work!”

It’s never too early to start planning! It’s important to always follow your gut when making planning decisions – it’s all about what the bride & groom want in the end.  Most importantly enjoy the process, you only get to plan one wedding so make the most of the entire experience!”
