Real Virginia Wedding- Shea & Greg

BRIDE: Shea Mahoney, 28

GROOM: Greg Peck, 35

DATE: August 17, 2019

LOCATION: Stone Tower Winery, Leesburg, Virginia

NUMBER OF GUESTS: 117

After meeting in a cornhole league in Arlington, Virginia, and realizing they belonged together forever, Greg asked Shea to go for a walk in the snow while on vacation at the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch. “But after a long day snowmobiling in freezing Colorado temperatures, Shea rejected Greg’s request to spend more time in the snowstorm. Greg asked Shea to join him on the patio where she found him on his knee in the snow.”

For the wedding, Shea and Greg hired trusted month-of coordination, Angelica & Co. Weddings, with which Shea had attended high school. “The majority of the planning was done by the couple, and it was significantly more work than expected, but the team of incredible vendors ensured the day was executed perfectly.”

For their incredible day, they let Cape Cod, Massachusetts inspire the theme. Shea and her family had vacationed there every summer with family, so the placid blues and whites stem from Shea’s nautical sense of style. One of their favorite places to summer is Cisco Brewers in Nantucket, so they chose to serve Cisco Brewers beer and lobster roll appetizers in true New England fashion to add to their island feel of the wedding.

Shea wore a lace, sweetheart strapless gown with a scalloped neckline, embellished belt, and long train. Her earrings were Nadri Open Drop earrings in silver, and her veil was an elegant Cathedral length tulle veil in white.

The groom and his four groomsmen wore black pearl lapel tuxedos from Nordstrom, with white cotton dress shirts, black butterfly bow ties, and black patent leather shoes. The four bridesmaids wore full-length halter, high-neck dresses with ruffle tops in a pale blue with a trapeze silhouette, along with Kendra Scott Sophia Drop silver earrings.

The ceremony took place in front of a pond with the vineyard and mountains in the background. A special touch at the altar were two white floral arrangements atop wine barrels, accenting their venue choice with a beautiful, rustic touch.

The bride chose her favorite flowers for the wedding, using peonies flown from Alaska and hydrangeas, a Cape Cod staple.

“Our officiant read the following Irish blessing during the ceremony as [we] both have Irish heritage.

‘May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields.

‘May the light of friendship guide your paths together. May the laughter of children grace the halls of your home. May the joy of living for one another trip a smile from your lips, and a twinkle from your eye.

‘And when eternity beckons at the end of a life heaped high with love, May the good Lord embrace you with the arms that have nurtured you the whole length of your joy-filled days.

‘May the gracious God hold you both in the palm of His hands. And, today, may the Spirit of love find a dwelling place in your hearts.’”

The seaside theme carried into their menu with delicious choices like mini lobster rolls, filet mignon, tiger shrimp and bearnaise skewers, and mini jumbo lump crab cakes. They served Stone Tower Winery selections including 2017 Wild Boar Chardonnay, 2016 Wild Boar Cabernet Sauvignon, 2016 Wild Boar Petit Verdot, 2017 Wild Boar Sauvignon Blanc, and Brut Rose.

What a wonderful day! Thank you for sharing your story with us. Congratulations to you both!
