Many engaged couples and their families are excited to attend bridal shows as are many vendors. But how do you know if the show you have heard about or have been called about to participate in as a vendor- is a reputable show or a show that you would want to attend?
As with any other business these days- many are jumping on the wedding industry band wagon to make a quick dollar – and many of these people have no background in hosting events or any knowledge of the wedding industry.
Do some research before attending a bridal show as a vendor or as a show guest. Because ultimately you are making an investment – not just by paying an admission fee to attend but by spending your valuable time and your family’s and friend’s time by attending a show ( most shows are on an average of 3-5 hours) and once at a show you are having to count on that the company hosting the show has also done their research by having reputable vendors in the show- wedding professionals you can trust with your special day if you decide to book them for services.
As a vendor you are investing considerably more by paying for a booth in the show to display your services. How the show is advertised is a great way to gauge not only for a vendor but for a couple if this is a show to attend. How did you hear about the show?
A real bridal show will be properly promoted in local media- radio, TV, Newspapers, major wedding internet sites, billboards, and bridal magazines. If the show producer invested quite a bit in advertising you can assume the show is a reputable show.
Reviews- Good bridal shows as with any good event will have legitimate feedback from the participating vendors- with known businesses in the area giving feedback with names of the business reviewing the show listed.
History- How long has the show been offered? If it is a first time show- has the company hosted any other successful shows in the past with a proven track record?
Don’t be fooled by promises of lots of “free stuff”- all shows do offer door prizes by attending vendors and most will have a grand prize either-a trip or a entire wedding giveaway. But one should not attend a show or any event for the sole reason of getting free items. This is not really the purpose to attend a bridal show. The purpose should be to gather information, interview wedding professionals, get ideas, and make informed choices to book services for your upcoming wedding.
There are major bridal shows in cities through out Virginia- most of these shows will be at major hotels or event venues like Expo Centers or Coliseums. They will be hosted by either local or regional bridal magazines, bridal salons or major bridal show producers who have proven track records. These are the most trusted sources you can depend on when searching for a good bridal show to attend.
