Design Elements to Wow Your Wedding Guests

Let me ask you, have you begun doing research for your wedding or event? My guess is you have. When you looked through the images what did you notice? I bet you saw dramatic, rich, grand, luxury designs that were simply swoon worthy.

All of the most well-known wedding and event designers in our industry all know how to ensure your event is EXACTLY what you have dreamed of while giving your guests a distinctive experience. Every wedding and event should have some level of grandeur, elegance, and luxury to it. My clients expect it and frankly I LOVE creating it for them. Here are my top 10 favorite ways to add luxury design elements to your wedding or event you will love and will WOW your guests, without breaking your bank.

1.)    Make a Grand Entrance. No event is swoon worthy without an entranceway that tells guests they are about to embark on a journey. They are going to be whisked away for an experience of a life time.

2.)    Do Something Completely Unexpected. Think theatrics here; like a surprise performance, an amazing entrance or exit, a flash mob, falling rose petals from the ceiling, living art, a live painter or artist, a roaming musician playing during dinner, etc. Just make sure it ties into your overall design and continues to tell your story.

3.)    Use the Element of Surprise. Keep your spouse and guests on their toes by adding surprise elements every 20 – 40 minutes throughout the event. These surprises can be just for your new spouse or for everyone to enjoy. These elements can be theatrical (as mentioned above) or can be as simple as planned gifts or a sudden change in scenery. The key here is keeping it a secret beforehand and the timing of the reveal.

4.)    Keep the Party Going. Luxurious wedding and events don’t just focus on the key event. They have pre-event and post-event activities planned. Maybe it’s a whole week long celebration leading up to the key event or an intimate weekend long with those closest to you.

5.)    Opt for a Venue Like NO Other. No matter if you are getting married or planning a product launch venue selection is a huge factor in the overall design of your event. If you want something grand then you have to have a luxurious venue or a venue that no one would traditionally think of. (In some cases we may just have to build it from the ground up).

6.)    Make it Interactive for Guests. Weddings and events are more memorable when you include your guests. You want to WOW them with the ultimate experience and there is no better way to do that than to make activities interactive. Perhaps its interactive food, maybe interactive displays, perhaps its planned games, etc. The style of your wedding or event will help tell that tale, but having ways to incorporate interactive activities into your event is crucial to its success.

7.)    Bigger is Better. When it comes to grand events bigger is better. This can apply to floral structures, venue selection, musical performances, etc. Selecting a few key elements and going big, will have a profound impact on your guests and event.

8.)    Put on a Light Show. Event lighting is an integral element in creating just the right ambience. Soft hues and candlelight create a more romantic feel while rich bold colors create a more cosmopolitan feel. Add some additional sizzle by changing the lighting throughout the event to create mood changes and surprises.

9.)    Use Technology in Fun Ways. Technology is ever changing. Hosts with elite tastes know how to take technology and make it work for them. With computers, phones, musical devices, and more being smaller, lighter, and more versatile wedding and event designs are taking advantage.  DJ’s can offer text services from the table, programmable light displays interactive guest displays, live wedding broadcasts, and much more.

10.) Overwhelm the Senses. Designing a luxurious event is about ensuring the design touches every sense we have (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste) at the same time, and in perfect harmony. By doing so, the emotional experiences and sensations are magical.
