Concern of the Week- I Won’t Fit Into My Dress

One bride wrote to Virginia Bride that her biggest fear on her wedding day is that she will not fit into her dress.

This is a very common concern as the dress is usually purchased months or even a year or so before the day of the wedding. Stress over the wedding planning and eating habits can absolutely affect weight- you can lose weight or you can gain weight which will have a direct bearing on fitting into the dress on your wedding day.

One can always have a dress altered by a professional seamstress if you discover that the dress you purchased months before does not fit like it did when you first tried it on or after you had it altered.  Normally the store that you purchased your gown from has these services- you should ask when you buy your dress how much notice they will need to make these changes should you need them closer to the day of your wedding. Then be sure to try on your dress in the time frame that the store gives you- so you know if it still fits properly or if you need to schedule an alteration.

There are also many great sources for weight loss should you find that your weight has increased since buying your dress. Always seek professional help with weight loss from a licensed company and always check with your physician before going on any type of diet. Exercise is also another sure way to stay fit. Check with fitness centers in your area- and again always check with your physician before starting an exercise program. Eating healthy and exercising will also help  your 5aaaacbca24111e3bc41121cede7fa0f_8overall appearance – making you look great inside and out for your wedding day. The goal should be to start a diet and exercise program several months/weeks before your wedding- you cannot safely loose weight in a few days.

In the end- do not worry- you will look beautiful on your wedding day!
