The cake is the centerpiece of all things food-related at your wedding, and (hopefully) the only thing you’ll still be eating a year later. Therefore, it’s an important decision. Our friends over at the Sugar Cain Bakery in Hanover told us what the most important thing you need to consider is!

Amazing, right? According to the talented workers at Sugar Cain, brides really need to consider the quality and freshness of the cakes they’re choosing. “They go for the look,” Pam Bland of Sugar Cain says.

At Sugar Cain, they make all of their cakes just a day or two before your wedding will actually occur. “The difference is that it’s fresh,” Christy Harman of SC says. “A lot of commercial bakeries freeze their cakes.”

Basically, the only time your cake should be frozen and eaten is when you freeze a part of it for your first anniversary. Otherwise, make sure your baker considers your event to be top priority and makes your dessert in a fresh and timely manner.

“The biggest thing is make sure it looks good and tastes good,” Pam says.
