I figure now is the perfect time to discuss your wedding makeup, as you have so much inspiration from last night’s Oscars to go off of!

Newly engaged Lady Gaga rocked the red carpet with a dramatic red lip that matched her red rubber gloves — a look only Lady Gaga could pull off! A bold lip color such as this would be great for brides who like to be the center of attention, and what better time to do that than on your wedding? It’ll look great with other dramatic aspects of your look, like a form-fitting mermaid dress.

Who else is so excited to see Anna Kendrick in Pitch Perfect 2? This beautiful smokey eye is gorgeous and dramatic in a completely different way than the red lip. A look like this would be perfect for the wedding of women who concentrate on their eyes when doing their makeup normally. “Probably something that’s different about makeup on your wedding day [as opposed to other special occasions] is that brides want to look natural and like themselves,” says Amanda Perry, CEO and Master Stylist of Lou Stevens Glam Squad in Richmond. It’s a more dramatic version of what you’d be doing normally, so it’ll be different but you’ll still feel like yourself, which is really what you want!

Probably the best example of an actress who wants to be herself and go for the natural look is Jennifer Aniston. She isn’t known for trying out any ultra-trendy hair and makeup, yet always looks beautiful. The key to pulling off your natural self on your wedding day when it comes to makeup is finding the right person to do it, according to Amanda. “Try to find someone who will listen to you and not try to shove products down your throat.” You will come across makeup artists who simply want to sell as many products as possible, and will therefore put lots of them on you even if that’s not exactly what you want. Look for a stylist who shares your vision! Lou Stevens Glam Squad is a great example of this — I met them at the Greater Virginia Bridal Show in Richmond yesterday, and this is a group of ladies who are great at what they do. They are sweet, fun and talented, and I saw so many brides come out of their booth looking absolutely gorgeous!
