Virginia Bride's publisher, was faced with planning her wedding in just two weeks ..... |
BRIDE: Since we were already going on vacation to Hatteras we thought, Why not just get married while we’re there with the close friends and family who go down with us every year? Within two days I had my photographer—Keith Cephus of Keith Cephus Photography in Virginia Beach. The cake was from Great Cakes! of the Outer Banks and our wedding officiant was the Reverend Shirley Ann Gross of Carolina Wedding Co. Catering By Jill from Richmond did all the food, and the flowers came from Chabot’s Floral Buff of Virginia Beach. We bought Grady’s ring at William Jeffrey’s in Glen Allen.
During a trip to Manteo we picked up the perfect set of antique crystal wine glasses for toasting and a beautiful antique table runner to highlight the cake at a local antique store. My hair and nails were done by Island Style in Buxton the day of the wedding. The wedding was everything we wanted and was magical. It was simple and elegant. We shared our day with our closest friends and our two daughters’ from previous marriages. We both joke it only took us twenty years to finally tie the knot—we’ve known each other since we were 13, and dated during high school. I had some wedding day jitters—there were tropical storms surrounding the entire island and two states, but thankfully, on the day of the wedding it did not rain until after the ceremony and the photos were done. The Park Rangers were sympathetic and moved the roping over a bit. We still had a path to walk down, but we did have to move to a different spot on the beach. Grady and I waited the rest of the week for those turtles to hatch, but they never did. |
